VPRS 19099 Director of Medical Services / General Manager Papers

This series comprises selected papers maintained by the Director of Medical Services, then the General Manager of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) (VA 1048). It is an artificial series that was accumulated during the period that Dr David Campbell was employed by the RMH as the Director of Medical Services from 1985-96, then as General Manager from 1996-98. The General Manager was the chief administrative officer of the hospital and was at first called Secretary. Records in this series relate to a range of different subject matters and committees that the Director / General Manager had some involvement in. Included are records relating to the Bone Marrow Institute and Laboratories, Western Health Care Network Clinical Directors Council, Hospital / University of Melbourne Research Institutes Liaison Advisory Committee plus various other planning / strategic related records. Also included are papers regarding the Medical Administrator / Director of Medical Services roles, responsibilities and appointments from 1955 - 1971.
