Some theorethical and methodological considerations on Ageing Sociology studies

Abstract This article deals with human ageing from a historical and sociological perspective, emphasizing the importance of the researcher’s analytical and critical view on old age as a social and general issue. As a result of a qualitative research conducted with low income elderly people who informally work on the streets of Belo Horizonte and their families, this study presents some methodological proposals of ageing’s sociological approach and raises important questions to be explained before and during a research on this historically and socially constructed theme, which is also directly linked to the individual reality of the body’s end.
