Dataset for 'Integrating Global Ocean Profiles Data and Altimetry-Derived Eddies', published at ESSD

This dataset contains global ocean profile measurements from the World Ocean Database matched to mesoscale eddy observations from the META3.2 DT altimetry-based eddy atlas. The data include temperature, salinity, oxygen, chlorophyll, pH, and nitrate profiles, along with eddy properties such as position, radius, amplitude, and rotational sense. The matching was performed using a parallel workflow and quality-controlled profiles collected at local depths greater than 100 m. The dataset is organized into profiles located within eddies and background profiles outside them. It supports studies of the vertical structure of mesoscale eddies, heat and salt transport, biogeochemical pathways, and water-mass subduction across different regions and time periods.
