Coturnix japonica isolate:JC-2025 Genome sequencing and assembly

This project aims to generate a chromosome level genome assembly and comprehensive annotation of Coturnix japonica, the Japanese quail. Using long read sequencing and Hi C data, we produced a highly contiguous and accurate reference genome that provides a solid foundation for studying the genomic architecture of this species. The goals of this project include describing the overall genome structure, identifying protein coding genes and functional elements, and creating genomic resources that will support future studies on gene function, evolution, and important biological traits. The Japanese quail is an important model organism and agricultural bird, and a high quality genome will benefit research in animal breeding, developmental biology, behavioral genetics, and comparative genomics.
