In this study we compared various test for identification and characterization of Cronobacter sp.. Comparative genome analysis of environmental and clinical Cronobacter sp. isolates

C. sakazakii, formerly named as Enterobacter sakazakii is a Gram-negative opportunistic pathogen, which can be life-threatening especially when contaminating powdered milk formula for infants. It causes infections in immunocompromised individuals of all ages, particularly in infants and the elderly. Symptoms of infection include meningitis, bacteremia, sepsis and necrotizing enterocolitis with a mortality rate up to 80%. In order to expand our knowledge about this group of pathogens, we analyzed environmental and clinical isolates by the following tests: MALDI-TOF, API & WGS.
