资源简介:
Nitrogen foraging, the ability of plants to direct preferential root growth in nitrogen rich patches in the soil, is fundamental to the growth and competitiveness of plants. In this study, we conducted a time course transcriptomic analysis of Arabidopsis plants in an experimental system called Split-root, which mimics the heterogenous N environment to stimulus root foraging, and captured the early molecular events occurring in shoots and roots when plants are exposed to heterogeneous N environment. Additionally, we investigated whether the root foraging behavior is conserved across species, including Arabidopsis, maize, and tomato, and showed that the three species displayed a similar root foraging response, although with variation among specific genotypes, with shared and distinct transcriptional response observed among the three species.
