Sequencing of the most abundant wild animal Antarctic krill. Euphausia superba

Antarctic krill is a hyperabundant crustacean endemic to the Southern Ocean. This species forms a critical link in the food web between primary producers and apex predators, and influences ecosystem functionality because of its enormous biomass. Here, we firstly assembly its enormous genome based on the PacBio and Hi-C sequencing. Meanwhile, 75 individuals from four geographical sites around the Antarctic continent are also investigated to study the population differentiation and demographic history.
