ABSTRACT
This dataset contains ecological, physiological, and morphological data for Gyriosomus beetles collected in an arid scrubland. The data include species abundance across microhabitats, microhabitat temperature measurements, locomotor performance, thermal preferences, critical thermal limits, and morphological traits. These data were used to evaluate how heat tolerance strategies influence microhabitat selection among congeneric species.

METHODS SUMMARY
Beetles were sampled across multiple plots in an arid scrubland. Microhabitat conditions (canopy vs. open ground) were recorded, and temperature measurements were taken in each microhabitat. Abundance data were collected per species and sex. Physiological traits including locomotor performance, preferred temperature, and critical thermal limits were measured under controlled conditions. Morphological traits were measured using standard morphometric techniques.
NOTES
Temperature values are reported in degrees Celsius (°C).
Morphological measurements are reported in millimeters (mm).
Abundance values represent counts per sampling unit.
Zero values indicate absence of individuals.
Units for locomotor speed should be verified prior to reuse.
