Cities as Command and Control Centres (2006-2016)

All data have been calculated from the Forbes “The Global 2000” databases from 2006 to 2016, which contain information on the world's largest 2000 public corporations as measured by a composite ranking for assets, market values, profits and revenues. Corporations operating in various industry categories (used by Forbes) have been classified into the ten basic industry sectors of the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) developed by Morgan Stanley Capital International and Standard & Poor's. Assets, market values, profits and revenues from all Forbes “The Global 2000” corporations are aggregated to headquarter cities. Headquarter cities have been integrated into urban agglomerations as defined by the United Nations, the ESPON project and respective national statistical offices.
