This dataset and code repository support the analysis and forecasts conducted in the study examining the impact of the Israel-Gaza conflict (beginning in October 2023) on the price dynamics of staple food commodities in the Gaza Strip. The study employs time-series models to identify conflict-induced price shocks and structural changes in market dynamics. The dataset includes monthly retail prices for nine key commodities (e.g., bread, chicken meat, olive oil, semolina, rice, sugar, wheat flour, milk) spanning from January 2007 to February 2025. The data cover both locally produced and imported goods, enabling the identification of differential price responses to conflict-driven supply chain disruptions.
Data were cleaned, merged, and processed using a series of R scripts, with outputs saved as .RData files in the data/processed/ directory. Missing values were imputed using linear interpolation or ARIMA models, depending on the extent of the gaps.
*Scripts and Data Access*:
The provided R scripts include direct links and instructions for accessing regularly updated food price data from public repositories (e.g., FAO FPMA, World Bank, CBS). Users can download the latest datasets using the links embedded in the scripts and follow the included documentation to replicate the data processing and analysis workflows.
