Microbiome and Resistome Profiling of Upper and Lower Respiratory Tract Samples in SARS-CoV-2-Infected and Non-Infected Patients

This study aims to investigate how SARS-CoV-2 infection influences the composition, and antimicrobial resistance potential of the human respiratory tract microbiome. By analyzing 88 upper and 39 lower respiratory tract samples from patients in Southern Brazil through shotgun metagenomic sequencing, the study seeks to understand the compartment-specific microbial and functional dynamics associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
