Experimental data for sablefish and chum salmon feeding on jellyfish and mysids

We investigated the trade-off between nutritional content and digestion rates in two species of medusivorous fish, chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) and sablefish (Anoplopoma fimbria). Fish were fed jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) or crustacean prey (Mysis diluviana) during a controlled experiment, where we measured feeding rates and stomach evacuation rates. The experiment was conducted in 2025 at the Pacific Science Enterprise Centre, in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
