A cartes-de-visite of a young woman, studio portrait by Alfred Shea Addis, Los Angeles, California, USA, circa 1870. The woman sits in a tasselled chair with her legs crossed to the side, exposing her calf. She wears a mid-calf, short sleeved dress with a striped sash across her right shoulder. The dress is ribbed with tassels at the hem and sleeve edges. Her hair is curly and teased out for height and volume. The photographer's stamp is on the reverse. The photograph is in good condition with a hard crease across the middle and minor surface soiling.
