Multi-omics of the host-gut microbiome dynamics in multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS) has a complex pathophysiology involving genetic, immune and metabolic factors. Recent studies suggest that the gut microbiome could be implicated in MS. However, interactions between the gut microbiome and the immune system, host metabolism and diet as well as their stability have not been evaluated in MS patients. Here, we undertook a six-month longitudinal study and performed deep profiling of the gut microbiome, peripheral immune cells, blood metabolome and diet composition in a cohort of MS and healthy control (Controls) individuals.
