Global Atmospheric Trace Gas Surface Emissions and Deposition

Global 5 x 5 degree resolution maps of trace gas surface emissions and
deposition velocities were produced on the basis of a variety of technical,
geographic and climatic data. The data set quantifies the fluxes (sources
and sinks) of tropospheric pollutants at the Earth's surface. The major sources
of the following pollutants are included: carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons
(methane (CH4) and non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC)), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and
sulfur oxides (SOx). The data set consists of four categories of emissions:
anthropogenic sources (mostly fossil fuel burning), biomass burning, plant
foliage (isoprene and monoterpenes), and other natural sources (including
various soil and ocean emissions). The data set includes surface deposition
velocity distributions for ozone and most of the other species.

The emissions dataset can also be obtained via anonymous ftp as
