资源简介:
One of the critical success factors of sustainable library management systems is the security of digital data. The volumes of data generated and shared call for protection, which serves as a roadmap to safeguard the data that connects people and technologies. The protection of these data comprises elements of network technologies, people, communities, operations, data, and rules that work together. The interconnected elements require librarians and other technical staff to work together to curate data. This study presents a digital data protection ecosystem guided by activity theory to safeguard databases, bibliographic records, patron records, research data, past questions, RSS feeds, records on donations and statistics, and other threats. The Koha library management system and the Dspace for the institutional repository are used to ensure optimum access and delivery of information as per the vision of the UniMAC-GIJ library. Nevertheless, escalating incidents of threats to digital data such as cybercrime, data infraction, identity theft, hacking, falsification, human error, natural disasters such as fire, flood, earthquake, climate change, and pandemics relinquish systems to lose data, fail, and lack trust. The UniMAC-GIJ Library practices authentication, remote backup at data centers, encryption, regular backup, and robust data recovery strategies as mechanisms to avert crises.
