Dataset of manuscript "Climatology and environmental controls of intense wind gusts in the Brazilian Amazon"

This repository contains the datasets (in .csv format) and python scripts associated with the article “Climatology and environmental controls of intense wind gusts in the Brazilian Amazon” published in Geophysical Research Letters. File Amazon_WG_2000_2024.csv contains the dates, latitudes and longitudes, wind gust (m/s), and pressure (hPa) and temperature (°C) variations of wind gusts ≥ 15 m/s recorded by INMET weather stations in the Brazilian Amazon. File Amazon_WG_freq_spatial.csv contains yearly wind gust frequency data. File Amazon_WG_10hrs.csv contains wind gust (m/s), temperature (°C), dew point temperature (°C), and precipitation (mm) at the time of the ≥ 15 m/s wind gust and ±5 hours. These datasets are used to produce Figures 1 and 2. File Amazon_WG_ERA5_parameters.csv contains values of atmospheric parameters associated with the wind gust events.
