Borrowed Blueprints, Broken Systems: The Moderating Effect of State Capacities on the Diffusion of "Digital Authoritarianism" in Eurasia (Datasets and Supplementary Materials)

This repository contains the supplementary materials (qualitative) and a replication dataset for the 2026 article 'Borrowed Blueprints, Broken Systems: The Moderating Effect of State Capacities on the Diffusion of “Digital Authoritarianism” in Eurasia' in East European Politics. The supplementary materials systematize qualitative data on exposure to authoritarian diffusion and other relevant variables in the cases of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The dataset covers the variable of "exposure to authoritarian diffusion". It is a manually constructed index based on the trade with “authoritarian gravity centres”, participation in military alliances with autocracies; and participation in authoritarian regional integration organizations.
