This repository contains the datasets, imagery products, and associated materials used in the manuscript: “Mapping scytonemin pigment content and biocrust functional indicators using high-resolution multispectral imagery.” The dataset includes high-resolution multispectral imagery, processed raster products (.tif), and derived datasets used to evaluate the spatial distribution of scytonemin pigment content and other biocrust functional indicators. Data were collected from biological soil crusts (biocrusts) across sites in the Jornada Experimental Range (New Mexico, USA) and the Moab region (Utah, USA) under dry and wet environmental conditions. The repository contains local-scale imagery products used for model development at both sites. For request of unmanned aerial system (UAS)-derived products used for spatial scaling analyses contact the project manager.Repository contents NM_dry.zip -> Multispectral raster products at the plot-scale and associated spatial data from the Jornada Experimental Range (New Mexico, USA) acquired under dry conditions. Reflectance data is normalized. NM_wet.zip -> Multispectral raster products at the plot-scale and associated spatial data from the Jornada Experimental Range (New Mexico, USA) acquired under wet conditions. Reflectance data is normalized.UT_dry.zip -> Multispectral raster products at the plot-scale and associated spatial data from the Moab region (Utah, USA) acquired under dry conditions. UT_wet.zip -> Multispectral raster products at the plot-scale and associated spatial data from the Moab region (Utah, USA) acquired under wet conditions. database.xlsx -> Dataset containing field measurements, pigment and nutrient concentrations, spectral reflectance values, and spectral indices used for analysis and model development.model_output_summary.xlsx -> Summary table containing machine learning model performance metrics and predictor combinations for all analyzed response variables.
