Linked Data Exploratory Project

Using the metadata presented in The Séamus Connolly Collection of Irish Music, this project will identify and represent relationships between musicians using linked open data (LOD) vocabularies and ontologies. Approximately 337 songs and tune types and over 130 musicians are represented in this collection. LOD will enable people to access information about the musicians that may be available elsewhere on the semantic web through sources such as wikipedia, MusicBrainz, VIAF, and elsewhere. Presenting the relationships in a dynamic network graph visualization will provide a unique way to see, explore, and access information about the musicians and relationships between musicians within this collection.
