The Venus spiral scans contained three sets of scans, in the interval 13:40 19:00 of 0331, 0401 and 0402 UTC. During this period two failures of the MIRO instrument occurred, on 04.01, at 15:07 and 20:20 UTC. The second caused the instrument to Safe itself, but it recovered in time for the third scan. The failures were determined to have been due to an error in a command procedure. This was fixed and the error has not occurred since.
