Unprecedented 1-D helical calcium−organic framework material, Ca[NC5H3(CO2)2](H2O)1.5, has been synthesized for the first time under hydrothermal reaction conditions using Ca(OH)2, 2,6-NC5H3(CO2H)2, (CH3)2NCOH, HNO3, and H2O as reagents. A complete characterization including the transformation of the helical chain with pincers to another helix with steps by the reaction with water is reported.
