Designing and Organizing English Language Lessons in Accordance with CEFR Standards

Abstract: This thesis examines the design and organization of English language lessons in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The relevance of the topic is determined by the need to move English teaching from grammar-centered instruction toward communicative, measurable, and learner-centered outcomes. The study is based on a qualitative review of official CEFR documents and scholarly literature on communicative competence, task-based learning, action-oriented pedagogy, and assessment. The analysis shows that CEFR-based lesson planning helps teachers formulate clear objectives, select level-appropriate tasks, integrate listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and assess learner progress transparently. At the same time, successful implementation requires teacher readiness, suitable materials, and adaptation to local academic lyceum and EFL contexts. CEFR should therefore be used not as a mechanical level label, but as a practical framework for developing communicative competence.
