This record documents the supply, laying and payment of asphalt. The reason for the creation of this ledger is unclear but one possibility is due to war time considerations. This volume records where the asphalt was laid (usually a street or footpath along a side of a street), date of delivery of demand, name (presumably of a ratepayer), measurement in square yards, amounts charged to owners, total charges, number of receipts and payment details.
