This is the closest known relative to Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, the chytrid fungus that is killing frogs worldwide. We sequenced genomic DNA from liquid culture of JEL142 using 454 technology. We used the resulting genome in comparison with 19 additional fungi in order to identify unique portions of B. dendrobatidis' genome.
