Evaluation of viromic methods

When choosing suitable techniques for different application scenarios, more detailed metrics are needed to consider, e.g., specificity, sensitivity, repeatability, evenness, depth, etc. Here, we compared 8 metrics of Sequence-independent single-primer amplification and Multiple displacement amplification, as well as two emerged Meta-transcriptomics and Metagenomic , using marmot rectal samples spiked with different concentrations of 5 viruses. Results provide more information about the performance of these methods and help us to understand their suitability for different applications.
