Mountain plover is an unusual species within shorebirds, breeding in areas of shortgrass with bare ground and associated with prairie communities. They also display a rapid multi-clutch mating system. We provide a reference for facilitating the study of genomic characteristics for the plovers and a resource for improving the phylogeny and comparative studies of the diverse Charadriiformes order.
