Hypothesis:

The abundance of birds within the woodlot would be
greater than the amount found in the grassland and the amount of species and
frequency of species will vary in the different environments.

Prediction:

The number of birds found within the woodlot will be
greater than that found in the grasslands since many birds live within the
trees. The environment may also affect where certain bird species live and the
frequency of the species considering that certain species may live in one
environment more than another.

Methods:

1.      1. A
transect measuring five meters was placed in both the woodlot and grassland
found in the York University grasslands and woodlots and was observed for five
minutes, from 3:30 pm to 4:20 pm, for every transect. The conditions were
slightly cloudy and warm at a temperature of 22º and a Beaufort
scale of 4.

2.      2. The abundance of birds, number of bird species
and the frequency of each species was counted from the transect.
