Distribution of Medicare certified hospices in the U.S. 2020-2021, by structure

In 2021, of the 5,358 Medicare certified hospices in the United States, some seven percent were part of a hospital system, another eight percent were home health based, while just 0.3 percent were part of a skilled nursing facility. The large majority of hospices were freestanding.
