Occupancy surveys of reintroduced Persian onagers (Equus hemionus onager) in Kavir National Park, Iran

Reintroduced Persian onagers (Equus hemionus onager) were monitored in Kavir National Park, Iran, with daily detections recorded (1 = detection, 0 = non-detection) across 4×4 km grid cells. The daily observations were aggregated across nine months from 2022 to 2023 to create monthly survey occasions. This dataset contains only detection/non-detection records; demographic details such as survival trends, mortality events, and restocking interventions are reported in the main manuscript. Site elevation and geographic coordinates are also included to support future monitoring and conservation of the species. Access to the full dataset requires a permit from Kavir National Park and the relevant authorities.
