Contribution of Genetic Polymorphisms to the Abuse Liability of Oxycodone

The proposed study examined the prevalence of various genetic polymorphisms thought to be involved in opioid abuse among current heroin users. Volunteers meeting DSM IV criteria for heroin abuse or dependence who endorse heroin as their drug of choice. Not currently seeking treatment for opioid abuse. In otherwise good health. Able to give written informed consent to participate. Able to fluently speak and read English. Exclusion: Blood transfusion within the last 4 weeks.
