The majority of customers that used self-storage in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2023 did so because they were moving between properties or had no space for items in their residences, while a minority portion used self-storage to store belongings during university breaks or to declutter homes to be sold. Furthermore, according to storage operators, the share of customers who use self-storage during home moves increased in 2020.
