Genomic basis of schistosome resistance in a molluscan vector of schistosomiasis

This project aimed to decipher the mechanism underlying snail resistance to schistosomes. Whole genome sequencing was employed to study the genome of recombinant inbred lines of Biomphalaria glabrata, an important intermediate host of the human blood fluke Schistosoma mansoni. The findings provide valuable information for the future development of biocontrol programs that target schistosomiasis, one of the world's most devastating neglected tropical diseases.
