Digital Archive from an Archaeological Watching Brief at St Helena School, Sheepen Road, Colchester, August 2023 to January 2024

The collection comprises site images and records, a CAD vector drawing, and a report from an archaeological watching brief at St Helena School, Sheepen Road, Colchester, Essex. The works were conducted by Colchester Archaeological Trust between August 2023 and January 2024. The site is within the Late Iron Age/Early Roman oppidum of Camulodunum. The school grounds also straddle a Scheduled Monument zone within which are the remains of two Romano-Celtic temples. Several likely Roman features, including a possible metalled surface, were noted during this monitoring. Two undated features and a post-medieval/modern pit were also encountered.
