The northern Satsunan area off the southern Japan is physically and biologically affected by the Kuroshio Current, and utilized as an important spawning and nursery ground for chub mackerel Scomber japonicus. In the present study, we applied 18S metabarcoding diet analysis to S. japonicus larvae, which are abundantly occurred during winter-spring months in the northern Satsunan area.
