Invasive fungal disease (IFD) is one of the important complications of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and an important cause of transplantation-related mortality. The immune environment after transplantation is more complex. Prompt diagnosis of Invasive fungal disease (IFD) with administration of aggressive and appropriate antifungal therapy is crucial to increase survival and reduce morbidities after HSCT. Conventional diagnostic techniques for fungal infection are invasive, slow to produce a result, and often lack sensitivity and species-level identification. While, metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing(mNGS) should ideally be fast, convenient, accurate, broad-spectrum, and user-friendly. This study highlights the potential utility of mNGS in HSCT patients with suspected IFD.
