Conservation genomics of an endangered tree species Hopea reticulata

Hopea reticulata Tardieu (Dipterocarpaceae) is a critically endangered tree species restricted to the Ganza Ridge of Hainan Island, China and a few places in Thailand and Vietnam. However, the knowledge of the genetic diversity and demographic history of H. reticulata is still lacking. In this study, genome-wide SNPs were genotyped for H. reticulata at Ganza Ridge using double-digest restriction site-associated sequencing, and population structure and evolutionary history were further analyzed. This conservation genomic study can provide insights into the protection and sustainable management of H. reticulata on Hainan Island.
