High- and Middle-Income Country Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Hospitalization Estimates 2014-2023

We estimated the incidence of RSV-related hospitalizations using the comparative risk assessment (CRA) framework from the GBD. We modelled exposure-response relationships between community RSV activity and respiratory and cardiorespiratory hospitalizations, testing the predictive power of surveillance-based and hospital-based proxies for RSV activity. Using proxy data and exposure-response estimates, we calculated population attributable fractions (PAFs) to estimate RSV-attributable hospitalizations across age groups 18-59 years, 60-74 years, ≥60 years, and ≥75 years and 15 countries. This dataset includes the following:
