Tetraploid cultivated Peanut (2n=4x= 40 is believed to have been originated from the fusion between two diploid species, Arachis duranensis (AA) and Arachis ipaensis (BB). The branching habit directly influences peanut physiology, yield, and crop management. The determination of the angle between the main stem and the first lateral branch is a key factor in understanding the peanut architecture.
