Direct ex vivo analyses of HLA-DR1 transgenic mice reveal an exceptionally broad pattern of immunodominance in the primary HLA-DR1-restricted CD4 T-cell response to influenza virus hemagglutinin.

A Pepscan analysis was performed using overlapping 18-mers spanning the entire HA protein to assess specificity of influenza-specific CD4 T cells. This epitope was identified as immunodominant among CD4 T cells from infected HLA-DR1 transgenic mice.
