Invasive severe infection caused by Klebsiella quasipneumoniae subsp. quasipneumoniae. Klebsiella quasipneumoniae SB4935 liver abscess

This study reports the first case of community-acquired liver abscess caused by Klebsiella quasipneumoniae subsp. quasipneumoniae. The isolate contained two prominent features of hypervirulent K. pneumoniae strains: the capsular polysaccharide synthesis region for K1 capsule synthesis and the integrative and conjugative element ICEKp1-encoding the major virulence factors yersiniabactin, salmochelin and RmpA.
