RETRACTION NOTICE (2026). This record previously presented a "100-run iperf3 benchmark" of WireGuard vs OpenVPN on a Contabo VPS, reporting measured throughput, latency, CPU and handshake figures across 100 runs over multiple time slots. No such empirical benchmark was conducted. Those numbers were not produced by a real measurement campaign and must not be cited as measured data; the accompanying CSV (232 bytes) does not represent real per-run measurements and is withdrawn. VPNSmith publishes editorial comparisons of VPN protocols based on documented protocol characteristics, vendor specifications and publicly reported figures — not original lab measurements.
