Non-Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Generation

Non-municipal solid waste generation refers to the quantity of solid waste generated outside the municipal solid waste (MSW) stream, including waste from agricultural, industrial, construction & demolition, mining, medical, hazardous, and electronic sources, in a country or territory over a specific time period.

Agricultural waste is generated from agricultural activities, including crop residues, animal waste, and agro-processing by-products. Construction and demolition waste comes from construction, renovation, and demolition activities, and includes concrete, bricks, wood, metals, and plastics. Electrical and electronic equipment waste are equipment and components, including household and commercial e-waste. Industrial waste is generated from industrial production and manufacturing processes, excluding mining and quarrying activities. Mining waste comes from mining, quarrying, and mineral processing, including overburden, tailings, and waste rock. Medical waste is waste generated by healthcare activities, including infectious, pathological, pharmaceutical, and sharps waste.
