Historic District (MHC)

This data layer intends to identify, describe areas that are of historical, architectural, or archaeological importance to the community, the state, or the nation. A comprehensive digital inventory of a town's historical assets serves as the basis for all future preservation activities. This digital inventory becomes part of a statewide inventory and enables Massachusetts Historical Commission (MHC) staff and local preservationists to make consistent and informed preservation decisions. This geographically-referenced data layer of State Register of Historic Places (SRHP) datalayer consists areas which represent boundaries of significant historic properties with legal designations under several specific local, state and federal statutes. The SRHP was established by MGL ch. 9 ss. 26-27c as amended by Chapter 152 of the Acts of 1982 and Chapter 254 of the Acts of 1985, and is maintained by the Massachusetts Historical Commission (MHC) in the Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth.本数据图层旨在识别并描述对社区、州乃至国家具有历史、建筑或考古价值的区域。对城镇历史资产开展全面数字化清查，可作为未来所有保护工作的基础。该数字化清查成果将纳入全州历史资产总名录，助力马萨诸塞州历史委员会（Massachusetts Historical Commission, MHC）工作人员与本地保护从业者做出统一且审慎的保护决策。本美国国家史迹名录（State Register of Historic Places, SRHP）地理参考数据图层，涵盖依据多项地方、州级及联邦法律法规获得法定认定的重要历史建筑与场所的边界范围。该名录由经1982年第152号法案及1985年第254号法案修订的《马萨诸塞州普通法》（MGL）第9章第26至27c条设立，由马萨诸塞州历史委员会（MHC）在州务卿办公室负责维护。
