Streptomyces sp. HCCB10043 produces lots of active compounds, such as A21978C, arylomycins, valistatin, bestatin and a new aminopeptidase inhibitor, 3-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutanoylvalylisoleucine. To further exploit this promising stain, the draft genome sequence was determined. It allows us to improve the targeted products by genetic manipulation, and provide a convenient way to learn the biosynthetic pathway of these known products and the potential capacity of HCCB10043 to produce new secondary metabolites.
