Site Data from a Watching Brief at Cromford Mill, Cromford, Derbyshire, 2023

This archive contains the photographs, site records and plans (CAD data), produced during the watching brief at Cromford Mill, Cromford, Derbyshire, a Grade I Listed Building complex situated within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Archaeological Research Services Ltd were commissioned to undertake an archaeological and architectural watching brief. Work was undertaken between February and October 2023 during groundworks and building modifications to install a turbine pit, associated service trenches and a forebay pit. The features and deposits recorded provide a useful contribution to our knowledge of the construction of the second mill and the operation of its water supply and drainage systems, confirming the results of previous work and adding some new information.
