Site Remediation Program Preferred ID Sites in New Jersey

The Site Remediation Program (SRP) - Preferred ID GIS layer represents pending, active and closed cases within the Contaminated Site Remediation and Redevelopment (CSRR) program for which locational coordinates are available. This GIS layer includes all sites that are regulated under the Site Remediation Reform Act (SRRA), N.J.S.A. 58:10C-1 et seq. The NJDEP New Jersey Environmental Management System (NJEMS) serves as the database that both supplies the locational coordinates and the attributes included in this GIS layer. The SRP Preferred ID GIS layer is generated on a nightly cycle from the NJEMS (Masterfile) SRP Preferred ID coordinates. Three related tables are also generated on a nightly cycle via SQL querying of the same database systems. One table identifies information about the activities for a given case and two tables related to the Activity table identify the LSRP and Areas of Concern (AOCs) associated with a specific case. Users should note that not every SRP preferred ID in NJEMS has an established coordinate (GPS or otherwise) but CSRR is continually working to acquire these with GPS, location data submitted to permitting programs, and through address matching techniques. CSRR also continues to evaluate and refine existing case locations based on both staff input and input from the regulated community. Note: In 2023, the Site Remediation Program (SRP) changed its name to the Contaminated Site Remediation and Redevelopment (CSRR) program. However, the SRP Preferred ID GIS layer was created prior to 2023. The older name is used in several linked applications and cannot be changed to reflect the current name of the Department’s remedial program.
