Each entry records the names of the shipping agent, master and medical superintendent; and for each immigrant, name, age, calling, religion, education, native place and bounty paid on his or her behalf. In the first three volumes, the lists are subdivided into married persons, unmarried males and unmarried females. They also contain Recapitulations of tables of the marital status, callings and native places of immigrants.Printed indexes to these records were published. This series is indexed in Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales No.16: Immigration: Index to Assisted Immigrants Arriving Port Phillip, 1839-51 (1975) (hardcopy available in Western Sydney reading room).
