Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation and Excavation at Southam Road, Banbury, Oxfordshire, 2022

This collection consists of images, reports, spreadsheets, a vector graphic, GIS and site record data from an archaeological evaluation and excavation by Wessex Archaeology. Work occurred on land west of Southam Road, Banbury, Oxfordshire, in 2022. The evaluation, took place in March 2022 and comprised 19 trial trenches, measuring 30m by 2m. Archaeological features were observed in three of the evaluation trenches. The excavation was undertaken between August and September 2022. It was targeted on the location of a suspected Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age pit that was partially exposed and investigated during trial trenching in March 2022. The feature is provisionally interpreted as the remains of a very rare, possibly unique (in Britain) Beaker domestic structure. No other archaeologically significant features or deposits were encountered.
