Haemophilus influenzae R1838. Haemophilus influenzae R1838 is a clinical blood culture isolate recovered from a patient in Papua New Guinea. This strain has no capsule and therefore is a nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHI). NTHI commonly cause otitis media (ear infections) in children and lower respiratory infections in adults with COPD. This strain will be used for comparative analysis.
